bbPM pre-alpha notes part 1

  • There is no file editing anywhere, everything is done using pre-existing parts of bbPress.
  • I started over after seeing the mess I had made with my existing prototype.
  • The permalink system uses 404 pages in permalink mode and direct urls in non-permalink mode.
    • Forums with pretty permalinks will get a url like example.com/forums/pm, while forums without pretty permalinks will get a url like example.com/forums/my-plugins/bbpm/pm-view.php.
    • Pretty permalinks will never be used on the urls that a user should not ever have to see like deleting or sending a private message.
