bbPress Moderation Suite reaches alpha 2

Just a day ago, I told you that bbPress Moderation Suite’s first alpha had been released. Now, with two of its five parts completed, another alpha is coming your way. Ban Plus has now been added. It’s an improvement over Temporary Ban, an older plugin I made simply because it doesn’t use actual banning. When a user is banned using Ban Plus, the plugin does all the thinking. This allows me to tell the user how much longer they’ll be banned and why they were banned.

You can grab alpha 2 and later version as they are released from the official plugin page.

You can also see what I’m doing as far as developing the plugin in the log.

After about a week of programming (and a few months of procrastination), the first of five parts of the bbPress Moderation Suite is ready to be tested by other people. You can download the compressed archive of bbPress Moderation Suite 0.1-alpha1 here, and please tell me if anything isn’t working at 100% awesome.

2009 - A year of finishing things you started

I had been getting into the habit of starting a project, working on it for about a week, and then forgetting all about it as I started something else. That’s why this year, I’ve decided to stop doing new things until I finish the old ones. I already built myself a todo list, and guess what’s at the top!

I’ve already finished Xaniforums’ new theme. Unfortunately, the old installation of the forums on Xanimyle was corrupted, so all of the user and post data was lost. Anyway, you can go to the new Xaniforums right now and see the new theme.

Can anyone think of any other projects that I started and didn’t finish?

A Computer Conundrum

You hear your doorbell ring. You go to the front door of your house and open it to find — not a person — a computer. Or at least you think it’s a computer. You bring it inside and notice a note:

I see you have found my little gift. You can use it for anything you want, but you must follow my instructions carefully. The computer has a special operating system, which works only on this computer and is the only thing that works on this computer. You can type a description of a program you want and it will create it. However, you are not allowed to use the internet in any of your programs. You cannot lose possession of it; it will always be yours, no matter how hard you try to sell it or throw it away. You are the only person who can see this computer.

What do you type into the computer first? (Be reasonable. Your suggestion might actually make it into an operating system)

Dynamic Animations

I’ve been making some pretty cool (in my opinion) animations lately using no images, no Flash, and no Silverlight. All I’ve been using is JavaScript, CSS, and a tiny bit of SVG.
