RuneScape gets a graphics update-Part 2

old and new chat heads

Just looking at the old and new chat heads, I know that this update is the best thing since RS2 came out.  Every part of it just looks more real than it did before.  I can’t imagine what   Jagex have already changed torches from position-changing triangles to dancing flames, but now, they’re going to make the light actually have an effect on the scenery.  A dimly lit dungeon would have less light in it than outdoors would have at noon, but the current game engine doesn’t seem to notice.  For example, if you have a lantern in your backpack, the light fills the space equally, even if there’s a wall between you and some object in a cave.

Soon, with the graphics update, the game engine will know where the light is coming from and will light only the area that would normally be lit, making the whole world one more step closer to being real.

Similarly, with the update, water will be less like painted wood.  With the old detail modes, water either looked like opaque blue jello or blue wood.  Now it will look like…  Water.

To accomplish this, Jagex needed to make another level in their building module, making a floor below the ground, first, and second floors.

They also redid most NPCs.  I find the new Lumbridge castle much more welcoming than the old one.

And last but not least, they showed us a picture of what the game would look like!  I really like their use of the space.  Now I even know where the arrows are stored for ranging!

Jagex-Employed Macroers

Recently, Jagex has been unsuccessful at preventing real world item trading and macroing.  There are, in fact, more real world item traders and macroers than ever before.  Even Jagex mods are macroing and lying.  Take this example:

Jagex mod autoing

I asked a Jagex mod about summoning and two pictures that I was wondering about being faked or not. [Link] What I got for a reply is an automated message about the holiday season being busy.

RuneScape - the massive online adventure game by Jagex Ltd_1199464041576I would like to bring to mind another time that I asked a Jagex mod a question in October.  The moderator in that replied was (I think) a real person, but they said that Jagex never automates anything.  I find that hard to believe.

Ryan wrote "Jagex are the biggest hypocrites on the internet."  And they are.  All of the new updates in December 2007 were to prevent goldfarming, macroing, and real world item trading.  They failed miserably, or as Warren would say, UNSUCSSSPHUL.  All of these updates and nothing happened to real world item trading that these updates were to prevent.  Even worse, they’re going on stronger than ever!  And it’s worse than that!  Jagex didn’t even put a dent in the rulebreakers, but made quite a few of the legitimate players quit out of frustration.  The economy crashed, we can’t give gifts, and we can’t pk!

Jelly cubeTo make things better, Jagex is going to release a new skill, a money drainer called "Summoning."  And guess what?  We get to summon giant green badly animated cubes of jelly!

Okay, maybe it won’t be that bad, but who knows, we’re talking about Jagex here, remember?

I’ll close this article out with a quote from Alex:

It’s pathetic. I remember appealing on an old account for macroing and they replied saying "We have conclusive evidence that you were in control of the account at the time."

If I was in control of my **** account how the hell was I macroing?

Summoning and forums

I’ll start with summoning.  Jagex has posted an article about it today, and I am sort of interested.  I don’t know much about it yet, so I can’t make a very long post about it.

Then, there’s something you can help me with!  LlamaSlayers has a forum now, and it’s not hosted on some obscure free forum hosting site.  You can find it at  Please help us to test it and submit new features for consideration.

Unban Nmr7… Please?

Sticker made by the creator of Nmr7

Jagex just doesn’t get it. If they ban all of the player mod caliber players and makes all the people they should have banned into player mods, they’re doing something called being dumb. Just plain dumb. You see, there was once a person named Nmr7 on RuneScape. He got banned for saying a joke in clan chat, that nobody would have ever believed if it wasn’t for a certain player mod that couldn’t handle a joke and a certain company that can’t handle themselves.

The new way that I let you borrow my levels

Ok, so you’re with your friend, and you need a new amulet of strength because you lost your old one while doing a slayer task. You go to your bank, you get your uncut ruby, a few runes, a gold ore and a ball of wool. Then, you trade them to your friend in return for nothing and they make the amulet as soon as they can and return it to you. They then get banned for real world item trading. This was obviously the wrong thing to do on Jagex’s part, but let’s think of ways to avoid that ban. And what if your friend is offline? Here’s how you do it:

First, you log onto Runescape and look at the new skill icons that were released today to make the game more appealing to seven year olds, then you go and get your supplies, just like normal, but this time, instead of clicking trade, you click Request Assistance. The nice thing is that no matter who you request assistance of, you run no risk of being item scammed. The person who allows you to borrow their levels gets a fullscreen semi-transparent message that allows them to loan you specific skill levels. For example, some random person with lots of time on their hands could let you have their abilities, excluding combat, (but not their speed because they are frozen,) and you could make the amulet. They get the experience, you get the item.

There is a limit of 30k exp from this system per day per account.

I tested this system with a friend from RSBandB and fished for sharks. It works perfectly!

9.5/10, Jagex, and that’s only because I’m saving the best scores for last.

By the way, I was at the eye doctor today, I’m getting purple glasses.

The reasons Jagex is stupid

The following is a list of reasons that Jagex is dumb, I will start off with an inspirational quote.

jagex are pee pee heads

And here is the list:

  1. They don’t ban macroers even though they say they do.
    Evidence: [Link]
  2. They automate everything from customer support queries to abuse reports to ban appeals.
    Evidence: [Link]
  3. They won’t show us our skills if we aren’t in the top million and level 30 or higher.
I don’t need evidence on this one.
  4. They have an investigations in the community team, but I’ve never seen any jmods on any fansites…
    Once again, no evidence needed.

If you have any, tell me so I can add them.
